Are you?

It is absolutely possible to know that you are saved. One of the first things that a new believer will experience is doubt. That’s called spiritual warfare. The other phenomenon is that you will crave Christian fellowship and Bible study.

God reveals things to us first in the natural and then in the spiritual. So let’s start there.  Christians are familiar with the term “born-again”. That’s very basic. A new believer is a “baby” Christian. What do all babies crave?  God has placed in each one the desire, the appetite for milk because without it they will die.

Jesus told the teacher of teachers, Nicodemus, that no one could see the kingdom of God without being born again.  You can read about Nicodemus’ encounter with Jesus in John chapter three. Nicodemus recognized that Jesus was a teacher who was sent by God by the signs that He did. When Jesus said that Nicodemus had to be born again, he was incredulous! “Can a man enter a second time into his mother’s womb?” The answer Jesus have was clear, “You must be born of water… that’s natural birth and then of the spirit. Jesus was not talking about baptism here. We already know this because we know biology. A baby is in a bag of  water called amniotic fluid before they are born.  That bag has to be broken and water gushes out before the child is born.

Jesus called the word of God a seed.  (Luke 8:11 “Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.)

I Peter teaches us that we are born from that seed. (I Peter 1:23 for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God.

Then in II Peter that we should long for the milk of the word. 1 Peter 2: 2 like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation, 3 if you have tasted the kindness of the Lord.

Look what the apostle Paul said, II Thessalonians 2: 9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie,

Clearly we can see that when we are born again we have a spiritual appetite. My question for you precious reader is this? Have you been born again?
