Echos in the Wind

Have you ever heard a passage of scripture repeatedly? You know what I am talking about. First you hear it on the radio, then perhaps while watching television, the next thing you know your pastor might mention it. When that happens we need to pay attention!

The prophet Isaiah said that the “spirit” of the Lord was upon him to preach good tidings to the poor.  If you study the word spirit in that context it means breath. (See Isaiah 61:1)

Breath can only flow in one direction. Test it out. Take a deep breath and blow as if you are going to whistle. See what I mean?

Jesus told the disciples that the words He spoke were spirit and life! He also said the Holy Spirit would bring His word to our memory. So listen carefully; you just might be hearing the echo of the Holy Spirit!

* Isaiah 61:1 “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;

 *John 14:6 “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
*John 6:63 The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.
