Have you ever heard a passage of scripture
repeatedly? You know what I am talking about. First you hear it on the radio,
then perhaps while watching television, the next thing you know your pastor might
mention it. When that happens we need to pay attention!
The prophet Isaiah said that the “spirit” of the
Lord was upon him to preach good tidings to the poor. If you study the word spirit in that context
it means breath. (See Isaiah 61:1)
Breath can only flow in one direction. Test it
out. Take a deep breath and blow as if you are going to whistle. See what I
mean?
Jesus told the disciples that the words He spoke
were spirit and life! He also said the Holy Spirit would bring His word to our
memory. So listen carefully; you just might be hearing the echo of the Holy
Spirit!
